The Flight of the Trumpeter

A homesick ten-year-old meets a trapped Trumpeter Swan. Together they set out on a perilous migration to Alaska. Storms, seals, predators--the flight north is full of action, and Quinn needs a friend to share it with. This adventure develops in five episodes through letters and artefacts which offer tangible evidence for the events that unfold. Due to the seasonal nature of the story, this Experience can only be mailed March—July.

My son is captivated by his mail delivery. He read it straight through from beginning to end and then searched on my phone to map the journey. Thank you so much!

It’s just a really marvelous service that you are providing. There are no screens involved at all. There’s a magical essence to this storytelling that I think is lost for a lot of kids; Flying Trunk Stories provides that for them. There are not a lot of opportunities for kids to experience this kind of magic.

Nancy E., Grandparent in Menasha, WI

Quinn’s first letter arrived today, and my daughter loved it. She’s been carrying the swan feather around all afternoon. We looked at maps of Skagit County and the route up to Fairbanks. We discussed why First People are called First People. I just went into the house to find her with the swan feather under her microscope- best mail day ever. This is absolutely magical and I’m so happy my girl is on the receiving end of it!

T. is LOVING the story. He carries his wooden eagle with him everywhere he goes. He is nuts about the enormous fishing lure!

Meaghan S., Parent in St. Paul, MN

This is the coolest letter I’ve ever gotten!”

Sally L., Recipient age 9 in Milwaukee, WI

I have gifted three stories now, and I absolutely adore this concept and the joy that your gorgeous works have produced in the kids who have been enveloped in the stories you have created for them!

Eric B., Uncle in Ann Arbor, MI

An unusual friendship takes Quinn and an admittedly disrespectful Swan on a migration to unite the Swan with his bevy and bring Quinn home. Come what may, they will follow the migration route over mountains and fjords, through storm, starvation, and face-offs with bears as they head for the Kenai Peninsula. Will they make it?

When you are setting off on a migration across the wild bays and mountains of British Columbia, it’s good to have some essential survival skills. Fortunately Quinn’s upbringing in Alaska has included learning a thing or two about the wild. But however brave a person may be, they still need a friend who has their back. Quinn has exciting adventures to share, along with intriguing artifacts found and used on the journey. Join the flight.
