I faced that plane into the wind and roared down the street at full throttle, right past the neighbors’ houses. She fought me a little till we reached 60mph, but then at 90mph she just lifted herself up on the air like a song. The city lights twinkled tiny beneath us. Above us was a layer of pale cloud, and then we were in the cloud and blind like a bat – and then we were above it. No more city, just stars. Crazy bright stars.
